Memories

For some reason, this morning I have memories washing over me. I can just see my daddy's car pulling in the driveway. I can see him getting out of the car, going to the trunk to get his suitcase out. Hear that suitcase roll up the ramp, and see him roll it over the threshold of the door. Hear him say, with that big smile on his face, "Randy Morris! I'm moving in!"

I don't know why my heart is just so full of memories this morning. I expect it on special days, like the anniversary of his death, burial, Father's Day, or birthday. But today is no such day... today is just a day that I am missing my daddy.

Duck Ride Tragedy

So very sorry for the tragedy that occurred on Table Rock Lake this week. My heart goes out to the friends and family of all who were lost or hurt. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

I know what it is to lose people you love in a tragedy that just seems so pointless and you just keep thinking about all the "what if's".

Just couldn't let the week end without letting you know that I will be thinking about you all, and praying for God's comfort for you.

God Bless You!!

Cinnamon Crumble Banana Bread

I made some very yummy banana bread. I was looking for The 31 days to a clutter free life challenge, and I found it on TheLatinaHomemaker.com . But while I was there I saw a wonderful looking recipe   For the banana bread. I just had to try it, and I’m glad I did! I have a new favorite website to keep an eye on. 😊.
Before going in the oven

Blackberry Cobbler

A few days ago my husband walked into the house and said "Surprise! I found a bunch of blackberries!" Now we could have just eaten them right then and there, because they were so yummy, but I was in the mood to bake. Honey said he wanted a cobbler, so now we know the real reason for the "surprise". ;-)
I have never been a cobbler maker, but my mama sure was. I started looking for a recipe, and of course one of the first ones to pop up was from one of my favorite bloggers, The Pioneer Woman. She had two versions, which she named Blackberry Cobbler #1 and Blackberry Cobbler #2. I chose #2, here is the link Blackberry Cobbler #2 . I always have fun following along with her,  and being able to compare her pictures with what mine looks like.
Here are a few pictures of mine...

So Yummy!!

Nice Hot Summer

Well hello there to all! I hope you are somehow able to stay cool this summer, it's a sizzling hot one!
Randy is out in the hay field while I'm writing this. Bless his heart. He is on a tractor out in the heat, while I'm in my nice air-conditioned house.  I'm trying not to feel guilty right now.

There is a lot going on this time of year. Our garden is in full swing, the cows are calving, the pigs are snorting and mud bathing and the chickens are complaining about the heat while laying tons of eggs.

Then we just had our 4th of July celebration here as well. We missed Daddy and Jeannette, but it was good to be together as a family. That's what Dad loved more than anything on this earth, was being with friends and family - he was definitely a people person. We want to carry that tradition on as well.

How is your summer going so far?
